Nothing is more proven to help a player sink more putts than harnessing a smooth putting stroke that can withstand the pressure. But as most of us know, developing a TOUR-caliber putting stroke is much easier said than done.

While most of us are still grinding towards this goal, there is one factor toward better putting completely in your control: Finding the ideal putter that fits your unique player profile.

Owning equipment geared to your individual swing mechanics throughout your bag is critical to shooting the lowest scores possible. When the game’s great putters working with amateurs looking for answers around the greens, the term “feel” is mentioned just as much as “tempo” and “rhythm.” While being comfortable with the type of putter you use is key in establishing feel, the way you hold the putter throughout the putting motion is also highly important.

A primary focus in golf instruction is, and will always be, the grip. However, the putter rarely makes its way into that conversation. Players are quick to make adjustments in hand position to help square the face at impact for a full swing. However, much of the same grip theory can be applied toward the putting stroke.

Find what you need to keep in mind when building a better grip. The goal here is for you to maximize feel, be more consistent, and ultimately hole more of those clutch putts.
