Hey everybody, I hope all is well.  Today I wanted to talk to you about the Set up.  I get this question all the time from students and other instructors as well, what does a proper putting set up look like?  I truly believe that the set up is very personal, and it is so because of many different things that are unique to each player.  I do however believe that there is one imperative, that being, that your eyes have to be in the best position for you to see the proper line.  For some players that is right on top of the ball, for others it’s just on the inside of the ball and even for some the eyes are actually over the ball.

Establishing this will come from pure trial and error and I reiterate there is no right or wrong here, where your eyes go is truly unique to each player.  Once this is identified the rest falls into place, ball position will be a consequence of where your eyes are set up and stance width will come from maintaining the set up of your eyes.  So as you can see, the set up revolves around the player being able to consistently see the line of the putt at hand and from this he can properly set up.  Once the players set up is establish I have them use the "Fundamentals" for them to consistently work on there set up and that way they can take out another intangible out of putting.  It is easier to make putts from a good and consistent set up.

Remember, putt like you train!
