Spotlight: Harris English

Posted by on in Blog Posts

Hitting the long ball certainly helps, but it’s not essential in playing your best golf. We all know the classic saying by now: Drive for show, putt for dough.

Somebody who can hit it a long way AND possesses a silky-smooth putting stroke … that’s someone who has a chance to take home the hardware every time they tee it up.

With that, let us introduce Harris English: one of the many golfing professionals who trust The Perfect Putter.

What is the one thing 99.9% of amateur golfers are guilty of when it comes to putting? If you chose “leaving too many putts short” then you’re correct! But there is something else even more critical that is a putt killer: Not playing nearly enough break.

Year after year, that seems to be one critical thing the majority of amateurs just can’t seem to wrap their heads around. It seems far easier to get upset with yourself for leaving putts woefully short. Knowing the putt never had a chance stings much worse than missing a putt on the incorrect side (otherwise known as the amateur side, or the low side) due to not playing enough break.

The Masters was a few weeks ago and, as they do every year, those greens did NOT disappoint. A windswept week at Augusta National paved the way to some incredible moments, as well as some very disastrous moments.

If you didn’t see what happened to Ernie Els on his very first hole of the tournament, click here to see for yourself, but fair warning, it’s tough to watch.

Know the Speed, Rule the Greens

Posted by on in Blog Posts

What’s the one thing TOUR players hate more than anything? The dreaded double-cross is pretty miserable, but nothing they can’t sort out after a few range sessions. Shanks are obviously no fun either, but very few and far between for players of that caliber.

For our money, the most disappointed you’ll ever see a professional (or amateur, for that matter) golfer is right after leaving any putt short. Red numbers are hard enough to come by as it is.  Missing opportunities by mere inches often make the difference between claiming the win or walking away in defeat.

Posted by on in Blog Posts

Whether it’s a 10-footer to win your first Green Jacket or a 6-footer to break 100 at your favorite golf club, the goal is always the same: Make or get close.

Sure, a win at the Masters will come with a bigger payday and slightly more glory, but the satisfaction of watching that ball fall into the cup is the same no matter the circumstances.

Before you can hoist that trophy in triumph, there’s one element to your game that you must first master - green reading.
